Refund Policy

A legal disclaimer

1. Scope

This policy sets out how returns and refunds work for purchases made through the EPOCH website. It applies alongside our Terms and Conditions and our Shipping Policy.

2. Right of Withdrawal (Consumers)

Consumers within the European Union have the right to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days of receiving the goods, without giving any reason, in accordance with the Italian Consumer Code (Legislative Decree 206/2005). Where an order is delivered in several parcels, the 14 day period begins on the day you receive the final item.

3. Editions Excluded from the Right of Withdrawal

In accordance with Article 59 of the Italian Consumer Code and Article 16 of Directive 2011/83/EU, the right of withdrawal does not apply to goods that are made to the consumer's specifications or that are clearly personalized.

The following editions carry your name, applied individually to each copy, and are therefore produced to your specifications. They cannot be returned or refunded under the right of withdrawal:

  • THE LEGACY (your name pressed in gold foil)

  • THE ATLAS (your name pressed in gold foil)

  • THE MONOLITH (your name engraved into the wooden case and pressed in gold foil inside the journal)

This exclusion is brought to your attention on the product page and at checkout, before your order is placed, and you confirm it when you complete your purchase.

Your rights in the event of a faulty, damaged, or incorrect item remain fully available for these editions, as set out in section 8.

Refund Policy - the basics

4. How to Exercise the Right of Withdrawal

To withdraw, send an unambiguous statement of your decision to info@epochwine.it within 14 days of receiving the goods, indicating your order number and the item concerned. You may use the model withdrawal form provided under the Italian Consumer Code, though its use is optional. We confirm receipt of your request and provide the return instructions.

5. Returning the Goods

Once you have declared your withdrawal, you have 14 days to send the goods back to us.

  • The direct cost of returning the goods is borne by the customer. This is stated here and at checkout, before your order is placed.

  • We recommend using a tracked and insured service, and reusing the original packaging, which is designed to protect the item in transit.

  • You remain responsible for the goods until they reach us, so please keep proof of dispatch.

6. Condition of the Goods and Diminished Value

You are free to examine the item as you would in a shop. You are, however, liable for any diminished value resulting from handling that goes beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics, and functioning of the goods.

Where a returned item shows signs of use, soiling, creasing, marking, or damage to the journal, the case, or their finishes, we reduce the refund by an amount reflecting the loss of value, which, given the nature of a hand finished editorial object, may correspond to a substantial part of the purchase price. We inform you of any such deduction, with reasons, before issuing the refund.

7. Refunds

  • We refund the price of the returned goods, together with the standard outbound delivery cost you paid. Where you chose a delivery service more expensive than our standard option, we refund the standard cost.

  • Refunds are issued using the same payment method used for the purchase, unless otherwise agreed. No fee is charged for the refund.

  • We issue the refund within 14 days of being informed of your withdrawal. We may withhold the refund until we have received the goods back, or until you have supplied evidence of having sent them, whichever occurs first.

  • The cost of returning the goods, and any diminished value under section 6, are deducted from the amount refunded.

8. Faulty, Damaged, or Incorrect Items

Should an item arrive faulty, damaged, or different from the one ordered, please write to info@epochwine.it within 3 days of delivery, attaching photographs of the outer packaging and of the item. This applies to every edition, including the personalized editions listed in section 3.

Where the item is confirmed to be faulty, damaged in transit, or incorrect, we arrange a replacement or a full refund, including all delivery costs, and we bear the cost of the return. Your legal warranty of conformity, provided by applicable law, remains unaffected.

9. Orders Placed by Business Customers

The right of withdrawal applies to consumers only. Orders placed by professionals, companies, and other business customers, including orders under our programmes for the trade, are governed by the terms agreed in the relevant commercial offer, and carry no right of withdrawal.

10. Kickstarter Pledges

Pledges made through the EPOCH Kickstarter campaign are governed by Kickstarter's own terms of use, and fall outside the scope of this policy. For any question regarding a pledge, please write to info@epochwine.it.
